The Mythsagas and Modern Fantasy

Since the 1800s, interest in the Norse Mythsagas has slowed significantly in favor of the more historic Icelandic Clan Tales. Today the Mythsagas are relatively forgotten. Indirectly however, they have survived in modern fantasy literature, mainly thanks to J R R Tolkien, who borrowed much from these stories, and in turn has inspired many other fantasy writers.
